Why last-mile is different — and why we specialise in it

The final kilometre is where carrier reputation is made or broken. We treat it as a discipline, not an afterthought.

Last-mile delivery in Atlantic Canada presents specific operational challenges: dispersed residential zones, seasonal road conditions, and recipient availability windows that do not align with standard courier schedules. Deltagvivid operates a dedicated last-mile fleet out of our Halifax facility, covering the Halifax Regional Municipality, the Annapolis Valley, the South Shore, and Cape Breton Island. Our drivers are trained on customer-facing communication protocols — recipients receive an SMS notification with a two-hour delivery window the morning of delivery, a second notification when the driver is 20 minutes away, and a digital proof-of-delivery record upon completion. For commercial clients, we offer scheduled route delivery on agreed weekdays, allowing receiving staff to plan accordingly.

What our last-mile service covers across Nova Scotia

Coverage zones, notification standards, and delivery confirmation protocols.

Halifax Regional Municipality

Daily delivery runs to residential and commercial addresses across HRM, including Dartmouth, Bedford, Sackville, and Fall River.

Annapolis Valley & South Shore

Three-times-weekly routes serving Kentville, Wolfville, Bridgewater, and Lunenburg, with commercial priority scheduling available.

Automated SMS and email alerts at booking confirmation, day-of-delivery, 20-minute ETA, and completion — all without requiring the recipient to download an application.

Proof-of-delivery

Digital signature or photographic delivery confirmation uploaded to the shipper's account within 15 minutes of delivery, with timestamp and GPS coordinates recorded.

What last-mile delivery does not include

We are direct about scope so that our clients set accurate expectations with their customers.

Our last-mile service covers standard parcel and freight delivery up to 500 kg per consignment. We do not currently operate in Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, or Newfoundland — those moves are handled through our domestic freight service with regional carrier partners. White-glove installation, appliance hookup, and assembly are not included in standard last-mile rates; clients requiring these services should request a separate white-glove addendum at the time of booking. Delivery attempts follow a two-attempt policy: after the second failed attempt, cargo is returned to the Halifax facility and held for five business days at no charge before a storage fee applies. We do not hold residential recipients responsible for missed deliveries caused by notification failure on our side.

We switched to Deltagvivid for our HRM deliveries in spring 2023. The two-hour window notifications reduced our customer service call volume by about 40%. Customers call us to compliment the delivery experience now, which was not something that happened with the previous provider.
